Biography
Lisa's practice focuses on trial and appellate litigation in both federal and state court.
Lisa's experience includes serving as the General Counsel of the Supreme Court of Texas. In this capacity, she provided legal advice to Texas’ highest civil court on a broad range of matters, including ethical issues, open records requests, employment issues, and fiscal matters. She held primary responsibility for the Chief Justice’s administrative duties, including establishing judicial policy, and the court’s administrative docket; she oversaw pending litigation; and she served as liaison for Court to the legislative and executive branches, the regional presiding judges, and the chief justices of the intermediate appellate courts. Prior to serving as General Counsel, she was the Court’s Rules Attorney.
Lisa is also a member of the Media Litigation practice group, and a substantial part of her practice is focused on First Amendment and other media-related issues.

Representative Experience

- Obtained, as lead appellate counsel, a writ of mandamus in the Houston Court of Appeals vacating a temporary injunction issued against one of the world’s largest energy trading companies
- Successfully represented, as lead counsel, several health care clients in filing an amicus brief at the Texas Supreme Court in a case concerning the constitutionality of a 2002 Texas Tort Reform provision
- Successfully participated, as supervising appellate attorney to court-appointed amici curiae, in a Tenth Circuit appeal involving a First Amendment issue of first impression on access to jurors
